Grow! Central Oregon Kids

(Preschool Promise)

 Exhibit Reflection:

This project demonstrates how thoughtful branding and communication can function as public infrastructure, removing barriers, guiding families, and strengthening entire communities from the earliest stages of life.
  • Client: Early Learning HUB of Central Oregon

Project Scope: Full communications strategy and brand development for a tri-county early childhood initiative

    Goal:

    • Create a unified, accessible brand to house and promote early childhood programs across Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook Counties

    • Increase awareness and enrollment in key programs, including Preschool Promise and Family Connects

    • Build a centralized platform for families to access resources, services, and support

    Stakes:
This initiative directly impacts early childhood outcomes, kindergarten readiness, and long-term family stability. The communications needed to be clear, inclusive, and highly accessible, serving families across diverse communities, many of whom are navigating barriers to access.

  • As the lead strategist and creative director, I developed the full brand and communications infrastructure for this regional initiative.

The core challenge was to unify multiple programs under a single, approachable identity while ensuring clarity for families navigating early childhood systems. We created Grow! Central Oregon Kids is a brand that felt both supportive and action-oriented, grounded in the idea of growth, access, and community care.

Key elements of the strategy included:

    • Brand Architecture:
Designed a flexible system that could house multiple programs while maintaining consistency and clarity

    • Audience-Centered Messaging:
Translated complex program requirements into simple, family-friendly language

    • Digital Hub Creation:
Built a centralized website to serve as the primary access point for information, enrollment, and resources

    • Multi-Channel Outreach:
Developed print and digital materials to reach families through both community partners and online platforms

    • Program Integration:
Created distinct yet cohesive messaging for Preschool Promise and Family Connects, ensuring each program retained clarity within the broader brand

    The guiding principle was accessibility:
How do we make systems feel simple, welcoming, and possible for every family?

    • Established a unified regional brand for early childhood services

    • Increased accessibility to Preschool Promise and Family Connects programs

    • Created a scalable communications platform for future program expansion

    • Improved clarity and consistency across partner organizations

    • Built foundational infrastructure for long-term community engagement and enrollment growth
